Actress Deepti Naval created a niche for herself in parellel cinema of the 80's through her easy acting and real-to-life characters. She started her film career by playing a supporting role in 1977

Actress Deepti Naval created a niche for herself in parellel cinema of the 80's through her easy acting and real-to-life characters. She started her film career by playing a supporting role in 1977 film Jallian Wala Bagh followed by Shyam Benegal's 1978 film Junoon and lead role in Ek Baar Phir. But her pairing with actor Farooq Sheikh was most poplar and the duo gave many heart-rendering films like Chashme Badoor, Katha, Saath Saath, Kisise Na Kehna, to name a few. She also acted in the Smita Patil hit movie Mirch Masala as the subdued wife of the village sarpanch who later stands up for the women folk. Recently Naval made a comeback of sorts with films like Bawandar and Freaky Chakra. She starred in Sudhir Mishra's 2013 movie Inkaar opposite Arjun Rampal and Chitrangada Singh. She also acted in a daily soap Mukti Bandhan on Colors. She is directing her first film named Do Paise Ki Dhoop, Chaar Aane Ki Baarish which stars Manisha Koirala.
