DINYAR CONTRACTOR

Biography : Dinyar Contractor, born on January 23, 1941, was an Indian actor and comedian who was renowned for his work in Gujarati and Hindi TV serials and films. He started acting at school and began his professional career in 1966. He acted in several Gujarati, Hindi, and English stage productions as well as Hindi movies. Contractor was born in Mumbai, India, to a Parsi family. His passion for acting led him to pursue a career in theater. He made his stage debut in the Gujarati play "Khel" in 1966. Contractor's first major break in Hindi cinema came with the 1992 film "Khiladi". He played the role of a college principal in the film, and his performance was well-received by critics and audiences alike. He went on to appear in several other successful films, including "Baazigar", "Jhankaar Beats", and "Mujhse Shaadi Karogi". In addition to his work in films, Contractor was also a popular television actor. He starred in several Gujarati and Hindi TV serials, including "F.I.R.", "Khichdi", and "Sarabhai vs Sarabhai". Contractor was awarded the Padma Shri, India's fourth highest civilian honor, in 2019. He died of a heart attack in Mumbai in June 2019 at the age of 78. Contractor was a versatile actor who could seamlessly switch between comedy and drama. He was also a gifted singer and dancer. He will be remembered as one of the most respected and talented actors of his generation.
