GUFI PAINTAL

Biography : Gufi Paintal, born on October 4, 1944, also known as Sarabjeet Singh Paintal, was an Indian actor and casting director. He was born in Lahore, Pakistan, and moved to India with his family after the partition of India in 1947. He studied engineering at the Panjab University in Chandigarh, but after graduating, he decided to pursue a career in acting. Paintal began his acting career in the early 1970s, appearing in supporting roles in films such as Dillagi (1978) and Des Pardes (1978). He also appeared in several television series, including the popular Mahabharat (1988), in which he played the role of Shakuni. Paintal's most memorable role was that of Shakuni, the evil uncle of the Pandavas in the Mahabharata. His portrayal of the character was so popular that he was often typecast as a villain in subsequent films and television series. Paintal also worked as a casting director for several films, including the comedy film Chashme Buddoor (1981) and the action film Mr. India (1987). He was also a successful producer, having produced the films Aaj Ki Taaza Khabar (1973) and Golmaal (1979). Paintal was a versatile actor who could play a wide range of characters. He was also a talented comedian and his performances were often hilarious. He was a popular actor and was well-respected by his peers. He died in Mumbai in 2023 at the age of 78.
