Irrfan Khan was born Sahabzade Irrfan Ali Khan. He started his career with television and did some interesting roles for Doordarshan. He has worked in many a critically acclaimed movie as well as international ventures. As an actor he is known for the serious roles he has successfully portrayed in movies such as Maqbool, Haasil, Charas, Life in a Metro, Gunday and The Lunchbox. His performance in the title role of Paan Singh Tomar won him the National Award. He is also the recipient of the Padma Shri Award, the fourth highest civilian award in India. Amongst his international projects are The Namesake, New York, I Love You, A Mighty Heart, Slumdog Millionaire, The Amazing Spider Man and Life of Pi. He was recently seen in Vishal Bharadwaj’s Haider. His next will be the Hollywood movie Jurassic World. He is married to writer Sutapa Sikdar and has two children, Babil and Aryan.
