JAYA BACHCHAN

Biography : Jaya Bachchan started her acting career as a teenager and she was popular as Jaya Bhaduri. She made her debut as a heroine in Guddi by Hrishikesh Mukherjee, which was hugely successful. She starred in other movies like Uphaar, Koshish, Kora Kagaz, Zanjeer, Chupke chupke, Abhimaan and Sholay. She popularised the naturalistic method of acting. Her last film as a lead heroine was Silsila. She made a comeback with character roles in movies like Hazaar Chaurasi ki Maa, Kabhi khushi kabhi gham, Fiza and Kal ho na ho. She has received Filmfare awards for best actress three times. She has been honoured with the Padma Shri Award too. She has been nominated for the Rajya Sabha. She married Amitabh Bachchan in 1973 and has two children – daughter Shweta who is married to industrialist Nikhil Nanda, and Abhishek who is an actor and is married to Aishwarya Rai.
