Jose Prakash was a Malayalam actor and singer. He started his career in the film industry as a singer and his debut as a singer was in the movie Sheriyo Thetto in 1953 which was directed by Thikkurissy Sukumaran Nair. He did not have any formal training in music. The early 60s witnessed the advent of many trained professional singers such as A. M. Rajah, K. J. Yesudas and that marked the career end of many amateur singers in the industry. Prakash gradually shifted his focus towards acting. Although, he did make a brief appearance in Sheriyo Thetto, his real break as an actor was with Bhakta Kuchela in 1961. He acted as a villain in Olavum Theravum in 1969 and that was a defining moment in his career, as he went on to play the negative role in a number of movies thereon. He acted in almost 350 movies. His last film was Ente Veedu Appuvinteyum directed by Sibi Malayil and after an 8-year-long hiatus made a cameo appearance in Traffic. He received the J. C. Daniel Award in 2011.
