KAMAL HAASAN

Biography : Actor, screenplay writer, director, producer, singer, choreographer and lyricist – Kamal Haasan is all this and more. Haasan started his career in the Tamil film industry. He tasted success with Apoorva Raagangal and thereafter went on to become a noted name amongst Indian actors. He has four National Awards and 19 Filmfare awards to his credit. Seven of his films have been nominated for the Academy Awards. Having started his career as a child actor, Haasan has worked across all genres including drama, comedy, action and romance in Tamil, Telegu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi. His famous films include Manmadha Leelai; Nayakan and Raasaleela and Dasavathaaram and Vasool Raja down south. He made his Bollywood debut with Ekduuje ke liye and went onto star in hits like Saagar, Sadma, Hey Ram, Chachi 420 et al. He was married to dancer Vani Ganapathy and divorced 10 years later. He then married to actor Sarika and again got divorced in 2004. He has two daughters – singer and actor Shruti Haasan and assistant director Akshara Haasan. He has been honoured with Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan awards.
