MAME KHAN

Biography : Mame Khan is an Indian playback and folk singer from Rajasthan, India. He was born in Satto, a small village near Jaisalmer in Rajasthan.He is a member of the Manganiyar community of Rajasthan, India. Since boyhood, he has been exposed to Manganiyar traditional music. His father, Ustad Rana Khan, was a Rajasthani folk singer as well. The Indian Council for Cultural Relations awarded him a six-year scholarship to pursue his education in music and arts when he was 14 years old. Mame Khan has been playback singer for numerous Hindi films such as Luck By Chance (2009), I Am (2010), No One Killed Jessica (2011), Mirzya (2016) and Sonchiriya (2019). Khan was featured on Coke Studio @ MTV (second season) along with Amit Trivedi, the duo performed the track Chaudhary. He received the Best Folk Single Award at Global Indian Music Academy Awards (GiMA) 2016. Mame Khan is a recipient of the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award in India. He was awarded the Padma Shri in 2022 for his contributions to the field of music. Mame Khan is a living legend of Rajasthani folk music. He is known for his powerful voice and his ability to connect with audiences of all ages. He is a true ambassador of Rajasthani culture and his music continues to inspire people all over the world.
