MAMMOOTTY

Biography : Mammootty is an indian film actor and producer who has mainly worked in Malayalam cinema. He was born on 7 september 1951 in Chandiroor in Travancore which is now Kerala. He has also acted in tamil, hindi, telugu, and kannada films. He has been awarded the national film award for best actor three times. Mammootty has also won five kerala state film awards for best actor and twelve Filmfare awards south. in 1998, he was awarded the Padma Shri for his contributions towards the arts. Mammootty made his debut with Anubhavangal Paalichakal in 1971. He has done several charitable work and also a patron of Pain and Palliative Care Society, helping and supporting patients with advanced cancer. He is also starting a project to provide care and support to those suffering from cancer throughout Kerala. He has won three national award. The first is for Oru Vadakkam Veeragatha and Mathikula for Best Actor in 1989, the second is for Vidheyan and Ponthan Mada for Best Actor in 1994, and the third one is for Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar for Best Actor in 1999. He has also won seven Kerala State Film Awards and also thirteen Filmfare Awards. In 1998, the government of India honoured Mammootty with its fourth highest civilian award, Padma Shri for his contribution to the Indian Film Induatry. Mammootty has joined with the Kerala State Beverages Corporation to promote the anti-drug campaign Addicted to Life. The project, launched by the Government of Kerala aims to eradicate the drugs and alcohol usage among people— especially youth
