MUNAWAR FARUQUI

Biography : Munawar Faruqui is an Indian stand-up comedian and rapper. Munawar hails from Junagadh, Gujarat. His home was destroyed during the communal riots of 2002, his mother committed suicide when he was merely 16 years of age. Munawar had to go through tremendous amount of pain and hardships, fed up of this, he moved to Mumbai in 2007 in order to make a fresh start. In 2008, his father fell sick and became bedridden., after which Munawar was assumed all the responsibilities in his family. Munawar started to work as a utensil seller and a salesman. In his early twenties he started working as an Graphic Designer where in he realized he was good at comical stuff and with witty and one-liners for graphical edits and posters. This when he Faruqui decided to venture in stand-up comedy while doing his job. In July 2019, he performed his first ever show titles “Dodh Dahyo” in Malad. Eventually, he started uploading comedy videos on his YouTube channel which in turn started gaining him popularity. In January 2020, Munawar uploaded a video titled “Politics in India” and this was his breakthrough moment. Later on his videos Dawood Yamraaj aur Aurat, Ghost Story, Doctor and Engineer etc. got viral pretty quickly. Since then, Munawar has been a well-known artist in the comedy sector. In 2022, he appeared as an contestant on Kangana Rnaut’s reality television show ‘Lock Upp’ season 1. He ended up winning the show.
