Prakash jha (born 27 february 1952) is an indian film producer, director and screenwriter who is mostly known for his political and socio-political films such as damul (1984), mrityudand (1997), gangaajal (2003), apaharan (2005), multistarrer hit movie raajneeti (2010), aarakshan (2011) chakravyuh (2012), and the satyagraha (2013). Prakash Jha is an Indian film producer, actor, director and screenwriter, mostly known for his political and socio-political films such as Damul, Mrityudand, Gangaajal, Apaharan, including multi-starrer movies like Raajneeti, Aarakshan Chakravyuh, and Satyagraha. Born and raised on his family's farm in Champaran, Bihar, India in 1953, Jha studied physics at Delhi University until deciding to work on the family farm in 1970. He moved to Bombay in 1972 to study at the Film & television Institute of India, and has been making films independently since 1974.
