Prem Nazir is one of the most reputed and powerful actors of Malayalam cinema. He is fondly called the Nithya Haritha Nayakan (Ever Green Hero) of Malayalam cinema. He started his acting career from the stage when theatre as a medium was still in it nascent stage.His first film debut was Marumakal (1952), directed by S. K. Chari and produced by Paul Kallungal. His work in his second movie Visappinte Vili (1952) made for K&K Combines (Udaya Studio) by Telegu director Mohan Rao made hima star. Some of his other noteworthy performances include Iruttinte Athmavu, Kallichellamma, Dhwani, Murappennu, Anubhavangal Paalichakal, Padayottam, Vida Parayum Munpe, Azhakulla Saleena, and Nadhi. Nazir holds two Guinness World Records; for playing the lead role in a record 725 films. He was conferred the Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri, the third and fourth highest civilian honours respectively, for his contribution towards Indian cinema.
