Sally Hawkins is an English actress. Hawkins essentially started her acting career from the stage, starring in a number of stage productions such as Accidental Death of an Anarchist, Romeo and Juliet, The Cherry Orchard, Much Ado about Nothing, A Midsummer Night's Dream and Misconceptions. She also had minor roles in television series such as Casualty and Doctors. Her first film debut was in All or Nothing in 2002. Some of her noteworthy movies include Vera Drake (2004), An Education (2009), Made in Dagenham (2010) and Blue Jasmine (2013). For her role in the Woody Allen film Blue Jasmine, Hawkins earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. In addition, for her work in the 2008 Mike Leigh film Happy-Go-Lucky, she won several international awards, including a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy and the Silver Bear for Best Actress at the Berlin Film Festival.
