Samay Raina is an Indian stand-up comedian, YouTuber and chess enthusiast. Samay was born in an conservative Hindu family in Jammu and being an Kashmiri Pandit, his family also left their home during the exodus to save their lives, shifted to Delhi and later settled in Hyderabad. Initially Samay wanted to be an Musician but things really didn’t go his way, then he opted towards writing, blogging etc. but that didn’t work out either. Later he enrolled into Printing Engineering which according to him was a waste of time but that’s where he also started doing stand-ups. Although professionally, he performed during college fests and other events on a regular basis. After this, Samay started performing open mics on a regular basis and it was in 2017 when he got his first major opening. He began opening for well-known comedians like Anirban Dasgupta and Abhishek Upmanyu. Eventually, Samay moved to Mumbai to pursue a career in stand-up comedy and travelled across different cities to perform open mics. This led to him joining Comicstaan season 2 from a suggestion from his colleague Aakash Gupta which he ended up winning and coincidently the co-winner along with him was Aakash Gupta himself. Since then, Samay’s career has sky rocketed and the boy from Jammu never turned back.
