Biography : Sridevi Kapoor, known mononymously as Sridevi, is an Indian film actress who has worked in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and a few Kannada films. She was born Shree Amma Yanger Ayyapan. She is cited as the first female superstar of Hindi cinema, one of the longest reigning successful leading ladies and one of the greatest and most influential actresses of Bollywood. According to Indian box office network, Sridevi ranks among the top 5 actresses of Hindi cinema with the biggest box-office draw. She started off as a child artist and acted in Julie. She then started working in South Indian movies. Her Hindi film debut as a lead actress was with Solva Saal, followed by the blockbuster Himmatwala. Her career is filled with hits such as Tohfa, Karma, Mr.India, Waqt ki Awaz, Chandni, Sadma, Chaalbaaz, Nagin, Lamhe, Khuda Gawah, Gumrah, Laadla, Judaai, etc. She has received innumerable awards. She is married to producer Boney Kapoor and has two daughters, Jahnavi and Khushi. She has been honoured with the Padma Shri in 2013. She took a break from acting after her marriage and her comeback film was English Vinglish, which was critically acclaimed.
