Known for his guest appearances in his directorial ventures, Subhash Ghai is a scriptwriter, director and producer. His production house is called Mukta Arts and he has made commercial successes like Karz, Meri Jung, Karma, Ram Lakhan, Saudagar, Khalnayak, Pardes et al. He is recipient of the National Award for the movie Iqbal, which he produced. After his schooling in Delhi, Ghai moved to Pune to study at the Film and Television Institute of India. He started off as an actor and moved to direction with Kalicharan. He has also set up an acting institute called the Whistling Woods International in Mumbai. His last movie as a director was the Salman Khan-Katrina Kaif starrer Yuvvraj.
