UDIT NARAYAN

Biography : Udit Narayan is known as the golden voice of Bollywood having worked in collaboration with some the best Indian music directors such as Laxmikant Pyarelal, Anand-Milind, Anu Malik, Nadeem-Shravan, Jatin-Lalit, A.R. Rehman and others. He started his career by singing in Nepali, Maithili, Nepal Bhasa and Bhojpuri in Nepal. He used to sing for Radio Nepal as a staff artiste for Maithili and Nepali folk songs. His first film playback singing assignment was for the Nepali film Sindur. Udit Narayan has to his credit over 25,000 songs in more than 34 languages. His first big break was in 1980, when Rajesh Roshan asked him to playback for the Hindi film Unees Bees and had the chance to sing with the veteran Mohammed Rafi. He provided playback for a number of films such as Sannata (1981), Bade Dil Wala (1983) and Tan-Badan (1986). When in 1988, Udit Narayan was given the opportunity to playback for Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, his became a success story. This movie, which had Anand-Milind’s music fetched him a Filmfare Award.
