But this Sargunam film is a comedy, and not intense like Raanjhanaa aka Ambikapathy
Dhanush has made the role of small-town hero his own and it’s his look again in the upcoming Naiyandi, going by the first look stills. The film, being directed by Sargunam, was originally titled Sottavazhakutty. The name was later changed to Naiyandi to make it more appealing to audiences.
It’s going to be a rural comedy and Dhanush, who has just done intense roles in Raanjhanaa aka Ambikapathy and Mariyaan was, apparently, craving to do something light and entertaining. Naiyandi will be just that, with the actor sporting his regular small town boy-next-door look and demeanour. But the actor is playing the same boy-next-door like Raanjhanaa and Aadukalam.
After names like Amala Paul, Samantha and Hansika were considered for the heroine’s role, it eventually went to Kerala girl Nazriya Nazim who made her debut in Tamil with Thirumanam Ennum Nikkah opposite Jai. She also appeared in the Malayalam and Tamil film titled Neram.
