Titled Tiger Zinda Hai, the film will be helmed by Sultan director - Ali Abbas Zafar and not Kabir Khan...
Salman Khan’s next film after Tubelight, is with Yash Raj Films. The film is titled Tiger Zinda Hai, and it is a sequel to Ek Tha Tiger, which was directed by Kabir Khan. But for this one, the actor reunites with his Sultan director Ali Abbas Zafar.
While it is not common for directors to give up a successful franchise to another director, Ali and Kabir have no such hang-ups in their friendship. Kabir knows about the project and has given his blessings for the same.
How similar will Tiger’s second story be to the first one? Only Ali can answer that. In an interview to After Hrs before the release of Sultan, Ali said, "I can’t make a Kabir Khan film and he can’t make my film. Every script that I have written has been shared with Kabir and every script that he has made, is shared with me. And we have conversations about it."
It will be Salman’s third film with the banner and we have to say that we are quite thrilled about it. However, we don't know whether Katrina Kaif will be retained for the sequel or not. We will have to wait for the official announcement to be made. In the meantime, All the 3 Khans will work in YRF films next year. Aamir will be part of Thug, Shah Rukh will be seen in Aditya Chopra’s next directorial and Salman will be seen in Tiger Zinda Hai.
Also this won't be the first time that a director has been changed for the sequel. Over the years, we have seen this happen many times in the Dhoom, Housefull and Welcome franchises.
