Considered the Mecca of cricket, the Lord’s stadium in London will be seen in Chopra’s upcoming production
Producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra has pulled off a rare feat. His upcoming production Ferrari Ki Sawaari, directed by Rajesh Mapuskar and starring Sharman Joshi, is the first film ever to have captured the Lord’s stadium and its vary famous Long Room on celluloid.
The proud producer was speaking on the occasion of the launch of a new song, Maara re sixer, maara re four. The hummable number is composed by Pritam. The song is about various aspects of cricket and the way this sport connects with the masses in India. Vidhu got excited while talking about this peppy number which has been exclusively shot at the most famous cricket ground in the world. "This is the first film shot at the Lord's stadium. But I must say we had a tough time to get the permission from the officials there. Initially, they said no...They did not give us the permission. It was later, when we sent our script to them, that they agreed to allow us to shoot there. Also, initially they were giving us one room, but seeing our dedication they allowed us to shoot a few scenes at the Lords stadium," Chopra said.
Ferrari Ki Sawaari is a heart-warming tale of pure and innocent bonding between a father (played by Sharman Joshi) and his son. It mainly revolves around a young boy's dream of playing cricket at Lords and how his humble father makes it reality. After watching the promo, we asked Chopra how his team manages to strike an emotional chord every time, with films like the Munna Bhai series, 3 Idiots and now the very promising Ferrari Ki Sawaari, to which he replied: “Frankly speaking, we make films with total dedication and hard work. We tell the stories that are very close to our hearts.”
Also, Nilesh Divekar, the young actor being introduced as Sharman's son in the film has an uncanny resemblance to cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, if you compare him with the maestro's childhood pictures. Moreover, a strong buzz is that Tendulkar himself might do a special appearance in the film, although Chopra refused to confirm this.
Ferrari Ki Sawaari starring Sharman Joshi, Boman Irani and newcomer Nilesh Divekar will release on June 15.
