The Manoj Bajpayee-starrer gangster flick is going places
Anurag Kashyap is a happy man these days and has been seen smiling wide thanks to the recent conquests made by his production house. This year has been special for the poster boy of indie cinema in Bollywood. His protégés Vasan Bala and Neeraj Ghaywan recently made him proud with their films – Peddlers and Shor respectively.
Last we heard about Kashyap's Gangs of Wasseypur was that it will be the opening film of the prestigious London Indian Film Festival. Before that it was the Cannes announcements had become the talk of B-town. The latest good news for Kashyap’s team is that their film will be competing at the Sydney Film Festival. It is amusing to see that GOW is being released in two parts and both of them have made it to the competition section of the fest.
As much as the Dev.D director wants people to believe that his ambitious mafia flick is an ‘item film with twenty five item songs’, the fact that it is being picked up by prestigious film festivals says a lot about his magnum opus. We can’t even begin to imagine how happy and proud Manoj Bajpayee might be feeling; after all these years of playing second fiddle, he has finally arrived and how!
