The special BTS MTV Unplugged episode dropped today morning and fans can't get enough of it. “It's really an honor to be a part of the 'MTV Unplugged' legacy, where so many legends have performed. We're definitely thankful, honored we got to be a part of this,” said group leader RM at the beginning of the 30-minute episode, and boy did the band live up to expectations. So, regardless if you missed it or watched and enjoyed it, we've gathered what we feel are the five best moments from BTS MTV Unplugged. Check them out below:
Suga's comeback performance post his surgery last fall was one of the major highlights of the episode. “It's been a while since I've been on stage, and I missed it a lot while I was recovering. It feels good to be performing together. I'm very happy,” said the singer.
Emotions behind Blue & Grey
Changing their clothes for this particular performance, the BTS members turned in a spectacular rendition of their hit single, Blue & Grey. Revealing the emotions behind it, V said, “Blue & Grey is a pop ballad track with charming acoustic guitar sounds. I tried to express my inner sadness and uncertainty, so I translated the feeling of burning out as ‘blue’ and the sadness of not being able to see the ARMY as ‘grey.’ The melody of the song is simple, so I paid closer attention to delivering emotions through the lyrics.”
Inspiration behind Telepathy
Post their performance of the fifth track from BE, Telepathy, BTS revealed that the inspiration behind the song is their fanbase and express their love for the BTS Army, or just ARMY as their legion of fans prefer being called, as also their inability to tour and connect with their fans all through last year owing to the coronavirus pandemic.
Cover version of Coldplay's Fix You
One of the biggest surprises of the MTV Unplugged was a special treat for their US fanbase, BTs also performed an English cover version of Coldplay's 2005 single, Fix You.
Jungkook’s parting words
And it was ended on a wonderful note, with Jungkook's sweet message for the fan, as he said, “We miss you ARMY so much. We look forward to seeing you again, and until then we will continue to stay by your side this year with good music.”
