The Oscar-nominated Se7en, released in 1995, has gone on to achieve cult status as one of the greatest thrillers to ever appear on the silver screen. The Se7en, has become a template for several homages, inspirations, adaptation, and outright clones, none of which could ever come close to Director David Fincher's masterpiece. Now, those who've seen Se7en would very well know if a sequel were to be planned, given the way it ended, it'd have been impossible for Kevin Spacey to return and quite difficult for Brad Pitt, too, to return. However, Morgan Freeman's character was ripe for a sequel, and considering what a big hit the movie was, plus, the amount of glowing reviews and audience goodwill it generate, it's quite surprising that the studio never went for a part two, especially with Hollywood's proclivity to generate sequels even for films that at times don't merit them. Well, what if we if were to tell you that David Fincher had apparently planned a sequel, revolving around Morgan Freeman's character, and what's more, it was titled Ei8ht. A well-placed source within Hollywood's industry circles exclusively informed BollywoodLife that Fincher was quite keen to helm Ei8ht with Morgan Freeman, but walked out of the project due to huge difference with the studio on both casting and creative decisions. “This film was almost a sequel to Se7en and would've actually been titled Ei8ht. True story — the script for Solace was purchased to be rewritten into a story, featuring Morgan Freeman's character taking on a new serial killer, and David Fincher was also attached to direct in the initial stages. Eventually, he publicly denounced the project due to casting and creative differences, and Solace went back on the shelf. It finally got made in 2015 with Anthony Hopkins, Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Collin Farrell as a psychopath who murders terminally ill patients. Talk about lowering the stakes...lol. He's also a psychic and so is Anthony Hopkins, btw...lol. Actually, it's not terrible. A little stale, but a decent story with a good cast that doesn't achieve its potential due to some weak direction.” Also Read - Golden Globes 2021 winners predictions: Mank, The Trial of the Chicago 7,Nomadland, here's who can win big at the ceremony
