If you thought that Killers of the Flower Moon is the only Martin Scorsese film that Apple TV+ will be bankrolling and streaming directly on their OTT platform, then think again. After reading that statement, if you think that it's just a few more projects that have been inked between the new streaming giant and the Oscar, Palme d'Or, Golden Globe and BAFTA legened, then also, think again. As par their latest deal, the master Director will now be basing all his upcoming film, TV and OTT projects under his Sikelia Productions banner at Apple in a multi-year (duration not yet confirmed) deal, where he'll be both producing and directing for Apple TV+.
The deal, obviously, kicks off with Martin Scorsese's next highly anticipated film, Killers of the Flower Moon, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert DeNiro, from a script by Eric Roth, adapted from David Grann's non-fiction novel. App;e won the rights to the movie in an auction where they shelled out $180 million after, Paramount, the original producers, backed out. The film is being produced by produced by Dan Friedkin and Bradley Thomas of Imperative Entertainment, and is currently in pre-production, expected to go floors in February in Oklahoma, USA.
Scorsese's last film, the masterpiece and multiple Oscar nominee, The Irishman, starring icons like Al Pacino, Robert DeNiro and Joe Pesci, had also gone the OTT route, after Netflix had stepped in when the film was facing difficulties to secure buyers due to going over-budget with its de-ageing technology used on its star cast. The question one every Scorsese fan and all movie-buffs' lips right now is: Is this the last we've seen of the master's work on the bug screen?
