The actor talks about the film and reacts to his equation with co-star Sapna Pabbi
Mahesh Bhatt’s Khamoshiyan is all set to make it to the screens this weekend. So BollywoodLife decided to get some of its facts right by EXCLUSIVELY catching up with star lead Ali Fazal from the film. Quite a crisp chat where he speaks about the story, the suspense, his role, his chemistry with Sapna Pabbi, his bonding with debutant Gurmeet Choudhary and more...
Firstly, tell us something about Khamoshiyan…
Khamoshiyan is all about me (Laughs). Okay on a serious note, I play a writer, a drunken guy who has been at this edge for the longest of time because of the things that have happened to him. He has never finished anything in his life. So this is where he comes from. Find out his journey when he finally decides to write a book. Does he fall in love, does he write the book or does the book write him? That’s what it is all about. And yes, for the rumors that are doing the rounds that Khamoshiyan is a paranormal or a horror film, it isn't. It’s a psychological thriller because at the end of the movie you will see (pauses). Okay I think I am going to give you the hint for the first time. We are leaving it to the audience to decide where it is inside his head or is it outside!
How about your co-stars? You seem to have bonded quite well with Sapna Pabbi. Are you two ‘just friends’ or is there more to it?
(Laughs). I think I share a great chemistry with her. And what’s wrong with great chemistry? See when you are working with someone, you tend to bind certain chemistry with them. That’s it! Why does it have to be something more? We are just celebrating our chemistry and that’s about it.
And what do you have to say about Gurmeet? It’s his debut film, so do you think he is carrying the right attitude towards it?
Yes totally. He is a very sweet guy and great fun to work with. But I got very less time maybe because most of my scenes are with Sapna. But yes, that didn’t keep us away. We three have got along really well and now that the shoot has got over, it’s a new friendship so we catch up more often and chill together.
What are your upcoming projects?
I have signed one with Mahesh Bhatt but I can’t really talk about it now. They are soon to make an official announcement. But I can tell you about my film with Pooja Bhatt. It’s a love story that co-stars Richa Chadda and I am totally looking forward for this one.
And before concluding, you’ve got lucky with one of the biggest Hollywood franchises, Fast & Furious 7. Share your experience…
I think professionally these guys were amazing. I have never worked with a team like this before. James Wan is himself a legend. He has made The Conjuring, Insidious, Saw and suddenly he is coming up with Fast & Furious. So that was something which was quite an experience. Their action sequences, their technology, the way they think, execute is all so superior that I got to observe, learn and absorb a lot of things. They are brilliant!
