Now many are aware that Nikhil Dwivedi, who stepped into production with the highly successful and generally well reviewed Veere Di Wedding, followed by Salman Khan's Dabangg 3, is keen on creating an Indianised version of legendary filmmaker Quentin Tarantino's masterpiece, Kill Bill (Vol. 1 and 2). The project was last heard about some time ago, and for now, Nikhil appears to have moved onto the Nagin trilogy, starring Shraddha Kapoor. However, he still very much wishes to produce the Indian adaptation of Kill Bill, and professed as much to us in a recent exclusive interview.
Opening up on the progress that his Kill Bill adaptation has made since he had last confessed about it, Nikhil Dwivedi said, “It's more of a homage that I want to create. I won't say that I want to remake Kill Bill. But that's a work in progress for sure. It's been worked out. Anurag Kashyap is working on it, and hopefully we should be into the first stage soon.”
Coming to the actors he may have in mind to cast, Nikhil added, “I think I'll leave that to the Director (Kashyap) —he has one or two (contenders) in his mind, and as soon as we form some kind of formality in our minds, we'll certainly speak to them.”
The actor/producer also let us in on why he chose Shraddha Kapoor for his Nagin trilogy, saying, “I think Shraddha is one of those very few actresses who has a unique quality, where she can be a girl-next-door one day, and the next day she can turn into an absolutely sensuous woman — it's like the turn of a switch. That really appeals to me and I feel, especially given this story, she can be ordinary one day and a superhero the next. That really works for me.”
Well, fingers crossed that this desi Kill Bill really turns out to be a good homage.
