Sushant Singh Rajput suicide: 'A lot of the dark underbelly of this business is coming out,' says Ranvir Shorey [Exclusive]

In an exclusive interview with BollywoodLife, Sushant Singh Rajput's Sonchiriya costar, Ranvir Shorey, emphasised the necessity of everybody being 'vocal' about Bollywood news circles while also sadly reminiscing how difficult it'd now be to revisit the film they had done together. He also spoke about his character in Lootcase and being happy that the film is finally releasing on 31st July.

Sushant Singh Rajput's tragic suicide merely at the age of 34, which snuffed out the light of a very talented young actor in Indian cinema beside a potential superstar, has opened a can of works, so to speak in entertainment news, with several actors coming forth to expose their distressing experiences in the industry and contribute their inputs to the never-ending star kids vs nepotism debate. Among them, Sushant's Sonchiriya costar, Ranvir Shorey, has been among the most vocal, and once again, in an exclusive interview with BollywoodLife, the actor emphasised the necessity of everybody being "vocal" about Bollywood news circles while also sadly reminiscing how difficult it'd now be to revisit the film they had done together.

"As far as being vocal about what is going on right now in terms of the debate that's going around in the film industry, I definitely feel everybody should be vocal, not just one person. Everybody should speak their own truths, I have my own truths, my own experiences to share. I think with Sushant's death, a lot of the dark underbelly of this business is coming out into the light, and it should, you know. Because in any system, when there's extreme amount of injustice and inequality, people need to speak out. you can't validate what's going on," said the actor.

Opening up on difficult it would be to revisit Sonchiriya, Ranvir Shorey added, "Now, with Sushant having passed away, that film has become something else. It'll be difficult for me to see Sonchiriya the same way as I used. It's very difficult to watch the film now."

Heaving a sigh of relief now that his next film, Lootcase, is releasing at long last, Ranvir Shorey stated, "Until what you worked on reached the audience and you get a reaction on that, I think the experience and the job is incomplete. You're right that Lootcase has had a couple of run-ins with coming out and then not being able to because of different circumstances (we had mentioned it in our question). But I'm glad that finally on the 31st people will get to see this joyride of a film, and I hope they're get ready with their popcorn and enjoy it."

Revealing certain aspects about his character, the actor explained, "In any comedy scene or situation, one person gets to do the laughs and the other gets to play the foil to it. So my role in Lootcase is more about playing foil to the comedy than doing the comedy itself.,which is not to say that it makes the scenes any less funny. It's just to say that I won't be the one evoking the laughter, but I'll be there in the scenes. It is a tougher thing though, also because a lot of times it's difficult to control your own laughter when you're doing such scenes."

Lootcase also stars Kunal Kemmu, Gajraj Rao, Vijay Raaz and Rasika Dugal.
