Exactly a week before the release of the film, the title of Emraan Hashmi and Shreya Dhanwanthary's film was changed from Cheat India to Why Cheat India. The decision was made after CBFC examined the film and objected to the title saying that it was a point of discomfort as it was controversial and misleading when seen in the context of the film. In a silent protest against the board's decision Emraan and the rest of his team added WHY in the beginning of their social media handles. Recently, during the promotion of their film, when BollywoodLife chatted up with Emraan and Shreya, the two reacted to the last minute changes that they were asked to make. (
Besides that, they expressed their displeasure over the same, and mentioned about the losses that were incurred. And for that matter, Shreya and Emraan even shared their thoughts when asked if the title change would affect the motive of their film or not.
