Exclusive! 'Frieda Pinto's mother couldn't recognise her in Love Sonia,' reveals Richa Chadha

We recently caught up with the actress to learn about how it was to work with the Slumdog Millionaire actress.

The critically acclaimed film, Love Sonia, has finally opened in theatres and if word of mouth translates into numbers, the movie should come out with flying colours. Directed by Tabrez Noorani, who has produced Academy Award-winning movies like Slumdog Millionaire, Zero Dark Thirty and Life of Pi, the movie revolves around the search of the titular character, Sonia--played by new-comer Mrunal Thakur--that takes her through the dark lanes of the sex trade. The movie also features Richa Chadha who is essaying the role of a sex-worker and Frieda Pinto in a pivotal role. We recently caught up with Richa who opened up about working with the Slumdog Millionaire actress. Speaking about the synergy, she said, "Freida and I have a lot of scenes together. She is a fine actor and I think this film will give people an opportunity of seeing a different side of her." She also recounted an episode where Frieda's mom couldn't recognise her in the film. "She is done such a good job that I was sitting next to her mother in one screening and she told me you know ‘that girl was also very good’ and I was like, ‘aunty, that’s your daughter!’ And she beamed, ‘Oh my God, I didn’t recognise.’ That’s a big deal," she added. Earlier, Richa had also told us about how the environment at the set was deliberately kept light and had said, "We kept the atmosphere on the sets quite relaxed and friendly because it was a hard film to make. If we had all gotten serious we’d have had a nervous breakdown." Love Sonia has been produced by David Womark. The film features Riya Sisodiya, Demi Moore, Manoj Bajpayee, Anupam Kher, Adil Hussain, Rajkummar Rao, and Sai Tamhankar.
