Dhadak's TV adaption has been in the making since some time now. BollywoodLife has been at the forefront while reporting about this upcoming show of &TV 's. The Hindi film was a remake of Nagraj Manjule's Marathi blockbuster Sairat, and now the passionate love story will be adapted for the small screen.
We had earlier reported that Udaan actor Sai Ballal will play the antagonist in Dhadak’s TV version, and we had also confirmed that Pranali Singh Rathod had been roped in to play the female lead. And now, our sources have informed us that the makers have most likely finalised their male protagonist as well. According to a reliable source, popular TV actor Kinshuk Vaidya is expected to step into the shoes of Ishaan Khatter, for the TV adaptation.
"The makers have been on a hunt for the male lead since a long time. Preet Rajput (younger brother of Harsh Rajput) and Meghan Jadhav, were the prospective names in the race to play the male lead. After numerous discussions, last night the team finally decided to settle down with Kinshuk as the lead. He hasn't signed the contract yet, but he will do so by the end of this week,” said a reliable source.
Kinshuk will be paired with newbie Pranali Singh Rathod in this love saga. His last appearance on the small screen was Karn Sangini, a mythological drama. When we contacted Kinshuk for a confirmation, he refused to comment. Producers Pradeep Kumar and Rajesh Ram Singh of Shaika films and Cockcrow pictures, respectively, also remained unavailable for comment.
Interestingly, this will be the first televised adaption of the 2016 film. Sairat was remade in several languages apart from Shashank Khaitan's directorial in Hindi. In Bengali, it was remade as Noor Jahaan (2018), Manasu Malligey (2017) in Kannada, Laila O Laila (2017) in Odia and Channa Mereya (2017) in Punjabi.
