Comedian-turned-lead actor Santhanam says he meticulously balanced between emotions and comedy in his upcoming film ‘Mannavan Vanthanadi’ with ace filmmaker Selvaraghavan. “Selva sir is known for the emotions and love angle he brings on screen. But I’m a person who gives a witty response even at the oddest time. So, we are like chalk and cheese,” said Santhanam in this exclusive chat with BollywoodLife.
The 39-year-old actor says he would always give his suggestions to Selvaraghavan to add humour in particular sequences. “When we discuss a scene, I will give my suggestions to add some humour to it. Selva sir will work it out in a way that there will neither be an overdose of comedy or emotion. Because an excess of emotion won't suit me and adding too much humour to inappropriate situations will be a blunder. So we had to balance it out like walking on a knife,” explained Santhanam.
Santhanam's comedy entertainer ‘Sakka Podu Podu Raja’ has hit screens today on December 22nd. The film is directed by GL Sethuraman, who earlier worked with Santhanam during his ‘Lollu Sabha’ television stint.
Santhanam also appreciated Simbu's composing effort in the film, which marks his debut as a musician. "Within ten days, we got the tunes, and he took just a month time to deliver the tracks. He completed the composition and re-recording much before the deadline. He may score music for many films in future, but I will always be proud and happy about the fact that he ventured as a composer through my film.”
