Seven months back Harshad Chopda – the hot and cute actor made a comeback to the small screen with Humsafars
Harshad is a very reserved actor and really struggles hard to be socially active. The first time I met him, he came across as someone who is disciplined and strict in life. He seemed like a perfectionist of sorts, however, with time he changed my perception about him. I met him again for the second time on the last day of Humsafars – and boy what a difference there was. He was chilled out, kept playing pranks, yapping endlessly with his co-star Shivya Pathania, buying food for everyone – basically he was all over the place, which was a pleasant surprise. When I sat with him, he spoke so freely like we’ve been friends for ages. Read excerpts of the short interview...
How has your journey been with Humsafars?
I believe it has been rather short but a sweet journey with Humsafars. It has been emotional and action packed at times, and sometimes both frustrating and challenging too. It has been a great journey. I enjoyed playing Sahir Azeem Choudhary. The show gave me a lot of scope to perform as an actor.
Tell us one criticism and compliment you received for this show.
Maybe that's why the show didn't work 'coz no one gave me any criticism. As for compliments, now, how can I praise myself? I genuinely felt nice doing this show; every time someone said good job it just motivated me to do even better.
You've played a very emotional character on Humsafars. How easy or difficult was that?
I think there are certain scenes which come easy to any actor and one of them is being emotional. They come easy to me. I liked it when I broke down in front of Ammi (mother) in the show. However, there was this scene where I'm alone and am crying - I did not really like the way I did it. There is a certain amount of control that you need to have; I believe I lost it there.
When the show started you promised, you'd become more socially active. Have you achieved that goal?
Well I am socially more active now. I am on Twitter; I have tweeted almost four times. I recently changed by Facebook DP as well. You cannot deny that I am not out there. It's better than not doing anything at all.
One thing in the show that you thought you'd never do but did.
I never thought I'd beat myself in the show. That's something I have never done in any of my shows.
What was your toughest scene in Humsafars?
There were a lot of scenes to mention as such 'coz Sahir was such a conflicting character with diverse emotions at one time. He was loving but unable to show his love to anyone. He always had two extreme emotions at one time. There was this one sequence where I am telling Arzoo (Shivya Pathania) to go, but in my heart I don't want her to go and I tell myself that I will force her to stay.
Now that you’re done shooting for the show; what are your plans ahead?
Well I will miss everyone from the show. Once the shoot is over, I will go back to my old routine, which I have missed for so long. I will get up in the morning; go for a walk with my dog Shadow and take up some classes. I want to learn dance forms and try out some gymnastics; of course, I will continue with my gym as usual.
Have you ever considered doing any reality shows?
I am very limited and prefer to do only one thing at a time. I like to live a very chilled out life and be at ease. If I am doing one thing at a time, then I can put my mind, heart and time in just that and do it whole heartedly.
