After Aksar 2, Abhinav Shukla will be seen as Rajdeep on Colors' upcoming show, Silsila Badalte Rishton Ka. On the show, he plays an abusive husband to Nandini, Drashti Dhami's character. Talking to Bollywood Life, Abhinav said, "I don't know what really got me hooked to Rajdeep. I saw a flavour of compulsiveness in him. When it comes to such characters, they look great on screen. So, I felt that Rajdeep was quite interesting. In a negative role, you get a lot of scope to perform. So, I thought why not give it a try?" Later on, he reveals that he is getting to direction, which is why he wants to explore himself more as an artiste. "I am getting into direction. I have made a short film and now on another. This is why I want to experiment with my acting. I have become less cautious with roles and I want to try out different zones," he elaborates.
This is his second how with Drashti Dhami. They have worked together on Geet - Sabse Huyi Parayi. "We bonded well during that shoot. We had a great time outdoors. We are friends but extremely professional in our conduct," he says. Talking about the idea of a woman looking for happiness outside her partner, he states, "I think it is no rocket science. If you are not happy with someone, you will seek that happiness from somewhere else. It is about how much rules and traditions we follow or break in such circumstances. I also feel it is subjective. A woman in a village maybe looked down upon for having male friends but it's okay in urban areas for ladies to tell their husbands that they are meeting a male friend and will be home by a certain time. It is very relative," he opines.
Abhinav also said that he would not like to judge a woman if she had a best male friend who was not her husband. "Whether it is right or wrong, it does happen in society. I cannot decide honestly. She can be right from her point of view." The handsome man, however, believes that emotional infidelity is infidelity. "Absolutely. It is the most prevalent form of infidelity. Most people fear the legal aspects, guilt trip and all the chaos and just stay emotionally involved elsewhere. You can be with someone in an emotionally detached state. It is so common in people who do not have direct extramarital affair."
On the personal side, he is getting married to Rubina Dilaik on June 21 in Shimla. So, what kind of husband, he aspires to be? "Not a boring husband, for sure. I want to be a man who does not follow the beaten path, someone who inspires and gets inspired. I am also the traditional guy who says I will always protect you," he says (laughs). When we asked him about Rubina, he could not stop gushing. "She has lot of integrity, persistence, perseverance and serenity. Rubina can explain things calmly. She is also unwavering in her attention. If I am hungry, she will ensure that I get food on my set or will finish a task. The efforts she takes for everything is commendable. Moreover, she is beautiful, successful and everything," he says. Going down memory lane, he says his first photoshoot with her is the most memorable one. "I was very nervous as I wanted to get the best shot," he confesses. The couple will take a few days leave for their wedding and go for a long honeymoon post that. "We do not want to stress the production, especially my show as it is very new," he opines.
The wedding will be a closed intimate ceremony in a tasteful location in Shimla. "We are getting hitched in this Mahal in Shimla. The traditions will be a mix of Punjabi and Pahadi. We will skip functions/rituals that we feel are unnecessary. Rubina has taken complete charge of the planning. She is imaginative and creative in her planning. Moreover, I cannot match upto her energy level. I told her that I will do all the running about. It is completely her project, planning wise," Abhinav discloses.
