The actress gives a fitting answer to all the people who bashed the film...
Hrithik Roshan and Pooja Hegde's period drama - Mohenjo Daro is out, some people continue to criticise the film. The film is based on a love story that flourished during the Indus Valley civilisation, so the historical background is a key factor in the movie. Historians were eager to see how Ashutosh Gowariker would weave his magic on this film, but after the trailer was released, they were disappointed. They felt that the film was historically inaccurate and criticised it.
The criticism goes on even today, so when I met Pooja Hegde, we asked her what she felt about this. Pooja said, "I am actually surprised by it (the criticism), because like you said we have studied about it (Mohenjo Daro) in school. But it was just one paragraph or one chapter. I remember it was Indus Valley Civilisation and Mohenjo Daro was just a small part of Indus Valley. We learnt about Harrapa and other places too. Even when I tried to google I didn't get that much information about it for people to have criticism."
She further explains how the team made a few assumptions and the film is actually Ashutosh Gowariker's version of the film and not the actual history of Mohenjo Daro. The actress further added, "People have questioned my costume, but if you look at the statues that they have found, then you can see that the dancing girl is nude. We are not making THAT kind of film, right? It's just Ashutosh Gowariker, April Ferry and Neeta Lulla's version of what people would wear back then. People have opinions, they are welcome to have it. Ashu sir has of course researched a lot on Mohenjo Daro. If you go to his office, you will see that he has so many books on Mohenjo Daro. He has even spoken to archaeologists. He has obviously taken his time to research, but it is, at the end of the day, fact mixed with fiction. The backdrop is Mohenjo Daro and the story is Ashutosh Gowariker's version."
Well said Pooja! I totally agree with the points and explanations she put up. Hope people understand Mohenjo Daro better now. Check out Pooja Hegde's full answer to the criticism the film is receiving in the video right here:
