It has made a stunning entry on the TRP charts at No. 2
Unlike Naagin, which was released with a lot of hype, Zee TV’s Brahmarakshas made a more low key entry on the small screen. Reportedly inspired by the Rajkumar Kohli thriller, Jaani Dushman, it talks about the tormented village of Kamalpura, where a Brahmarakshas is on the loose. The show marks the comeback of Krystle D’Souza and Aham Sharma on the small screen. The show got a fantastic opening at the TRP charts in the first week and was placed before perennial topper, Kumkum Bhagya. We spoke to lead actor Aham Sharma and he told us, “Of course, we are happy about the success of the show. It is heartening that people have accepted us.” When we asked him if Brahmarakshas has the potential to be Naagin 2, he replied, “I would definitely love it to be as successful as Naagin. I feel we have the potential. As actors, we are loving the script ourselves as we don’t know what to expect next. I feel the hard work of the creative team was given results. At the same time, even actors can push the creative team to do better and better.”
One of the major reasons is the comeback of Krystle and Aham. Talking about their chemistry, he says, “We are slowly getting to know each other. Krystle is a sweet girl. It is going good.”
We saw that Kavach replaced Naagin on Colors but the show could not sustain after a good start. The replacement of Maheck Chahal, excessively dark theme and sexual content were reasons why many it was considered to be unsuitable for family viewing. Brahmarakshas is more like Naagin with its mythical content, frothy romance and twists and turns. We will await eagerly for the second week ratings of Brahmarakshas. If what Aham said holds true, then Zee TV has a winner on its hands in the form of Brahmarakshas.
