Actors Himanshoo Malhotra and Amruta Khanvilkar won Nach Baliye 7 on Sunday, however their celebrations were cut short as Amruta got admitted to the hospital once again after complaining of stomach pain. Though the couple is forced to spend their time together in the hospital, they are still happy about their win. BollywoodLife exclusively spoke to Himanshoo, who was by wife Amruta’s bedside, to get his reaction about their win and more. Here is what he had to say.
How did you feel win the result was announced?
Victory is related to happiness, so we are extremely happy that we won Nach Baliye 7. We gave consistent performances throughout the competition and so we were hoping to win. It definitely feels great to get so much appreciation from one and all, but when the result was announced it was a very contrasting moment for me. It was contrasting because it was the first time I realised that when you are really very happy, you get teary eyed. It was the first time I was happy and tears rolled down my face. Once our names were announced, I just thanked my dad (in my mind) as he has always been a pillar of support for us, then I thanked god and then I hugged Amruta (Khanvilkar). We cried with happiness. At that moment, we were super happy and we thought that God has answered all our prayers.
You both gave many amazing performances, but which according to you was the best?
I cannot pick one actually, how can you pick one of your children over the other. All of the top 7 performances that we got appreciated for, are dear for me. But if you ask me to pick one, then it is the ‘Tu jahan main wahan’ performance, for which Ranbir Kapoor also gave us a standing ovation and I really look up to him, so it was really special.
You both were also embroiled in a cheating controversy, where you both were accused of revealing the voting code before the pre-decided date. What do you have to say about that?
I don’t know what to tell you about that. See, everyone had the code with them 5 days from the finale. But, you have to understand that even if we gave it out, the voting lines were with Star Plus and they (Star Plus) were going to open it on the finale day at 10 am only. So, giving out the code, a few days before the Nach Baliye finale, doesn't actually make a difference. If the lines weren’t open then how can people vote?
Had anyone else also leaked the code?
Everyone had the code before 5 days of the finale, so we don’t know. But, as I said it doesn’t make a difference.
Out of all the contestants, who did you consider as your biggest competitor?
If you ask me truly, no one was our competitor. We never came to Nach Baliye for competition; we came here to perform with each other as Nach Baliye is the only grand stage where you get an opportunity to dance with you partner and not a choreographer. I wanted to win those moments with Amruta and we wanted to feel like a King and Queen. I wanted to dance with my wife, set new benchmarks and break them.
We also heard that Amruta is admitted in the hospital, how is she now?
I am with her right now and she is feeling better. She is still in the hospital and will take a day or two to recover.
You’re celebrations were cut-short, so are there any plans for celebrating the win after Amruta recovers?
Once she gets well, we will obviously plan something. I really want her to recover fully and after that we will have a huge party.
Would you both like to be part of any other reality show now?
Yes, we will take up another reality show if the show supports and promotes talent. For now there is nothing planned, but if we come across anything then we will surely take it up.
