Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani's Kabir Singh is all one can talk about these days! Right from its first poster to its and songs, the film has had expectations riding on it since the word go! It has also managed to strike a chord with the audience and has created a great amount of curiosity among cine-goers. The Sandeep Reddy Vanga directorial which is the official remake of Telegu superhit Arjun Reddy which originally starred Vijay Deverakonda will see Shahid Kapoor play the role of a brooding, alcoholic and cocaine-snorting surgeon who can't get over heartbreak.
However, it took some time for Shahid to find the connect with Kabir, especially after the huge success of Arjun Reddy down South. In a recent interview with Bollywoodlife, Shahid opened up about the pressure to get that right. And the seal of approval of Arjun Reddy fans. He said, "I was very nervous about those very intense, very passionate Arjun Reddy fans. I was like sh*t, they are going to reject me! No, because they can’t see anybody (in the same way).” When probed further about the crazy-like fandom, Shahid stated, "That’s fair. Honestly, it’s a lovely film. Even I loved it. I reacted to it and that’s why I did it. But you know, we are making it for the Hindi audience. They need to come with an open mind. This is a new interpretation; culturally there are differences." He also revealed that even though he loved the original film, he didn't want to recreate it. "I didn’t want to do the same thing. And me and Sandeep needed to spend time on that because he is the same guy who made the same film. So, we needed to sit and spend time to find Kabir. I didn’t want to mess it up. For me, it was a great opportunity. A great role. I know that people remember me for some performances much more than others, so it’s not easy to get a great character like that every day."
Earlier, the actor had said that he had related to Kabir Singh's journey in more ways than one. "I’ve gone through phases. I have gone through heartbreak. I have gone through phases where I didn’t feel good about myself. I didn’t care about who I am, where I am, how I’m looking, who is judging me and who’s not. What I love about Kabir is he doesn’t care. When you’ll see the film, you’ll understand that he is not throwing it around," Shahid had said.
The film is bankrolled by Bhushan Kumar, Murad Khetani, Kishan Kumar and Ashwini Varde. It promises an intense love story between Shahid and Kiara and will hit the silver screens on June 21. Stay tuned to BL for more updates and scoops!
