Storyline

800 is a 2023 Indian Tamil-language biographical sports film on cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan, the best wicket-taker in cricket history. M.S. Sripathy directed the film, which was written by M.S. Sripathy and Shehan Karunatilaka, was produced by Movie Train Motion Pictures and Vivek Rangachari, and was presented by Sivalenka Krishna Prasad of Sridevi Movies. Madhur Mittal plays the major role. The film is based on the life of Muthiah Muralidaran, the champion who established the record for capturing the most Test wickets with 800. The novel depicts several aspects of Muralidaran's life; the story of an oppressed Tamil and someone who was once called for throwing but championed Sri Lankan cricket and went on to become one of the best cricketers of all time. It depicts Murali's journey from an excited fast bowler to the top wicket-taker in cricket history. It also delves deeply into the conflict between nationalism and humanity.
