Sairat is a marathi movie directed by nagraj manjule. it is a romantic film starring rinku rajguru and akash thosar. the music is given by by ajay-atul. the film was released on 29th april 2016. it became the biggest weekend opener for marathi film breaking record held by natsamrat. sairat was selected for the 66th berlin international film festival. rinku rajguru was awarded a national film award – special jury award / special mention (feature film) at the 63rd national film awards. the film is about a low-caste boy and daughter of an rich upper caste landlord, who fall in love despite pressures from society that they must not be together. when their relationship is discovered, the couple is faced with violence and many challenges before they leave for the city.
