The energy and vibe of the original Bappi Lahiri composition is missing in Sajid Khan’s Himmatwala dance number
One of the prime factors for the success of the 1983 film Himmatwala - that starred Jeetendra and Sridevi - was certainly its dhinchaak music by the disco king of Bollywood – Bappi Lahiri. After listening to the new version of the popular retro number sung by Mika Singh, we really wonder why Bappi da refused to recompose and relive his own chartbuster tracks in the Ajay Devgn-Tamannaah starrer. Mika has tried his best but his yawning style of singing pales in comparison to the original powerful voice of Kishore Kumar.
Sajid Khan’s Himmatwala will always be compared with the 1983 movie in every aspect – be it the story, music, songs, singers, treatment, etc and Sajid knows that very well. The original song Taki o taki is much better and there’s nothing new that Sajid-Wajid offer in the new version. Honestly speaking and with due respect to the composer duo, we felt totally let down to the extent that we wanted to tune into Bappi da’s version over and over again. As far as the visuals are concerned, Ajay Devgn and Tamannaah don’t impress us at all and their dance steps are very thanda as compared to the ‘physical exercise steps’ of Jeetendra and Sridevi. We are sure after watching the video, you will definitely tune into Bappi da’s original Taki o taki. Have a look!
