Trailer of Vivek Oberoi's film PM Narendra Modi released this Holi and was appreciated widely. The Omung Kumar directorial is all set to bring forth the story of Prime Minister Narendra Modi - from his chaiwalla days to being a top politician. The biopic is poised to trace important milestones of PM Modi's life, right from his association with the RSS to his period as the Chief Minister of Gujarat and then the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
Vivek Oberoi had taken to Twitter and shared, "Extremely proud to present to you all a glimpse of a journey never been shown. Our humble effort in trying to recreate an extraordinary life story of an extraordinary human being." The biopic was soon embroiled in controversy and the release was stalled by the Election Commission of India, but now the PM Narendra Modi biopic all set to hit the screens on April 11.
Vivek has also been promoting the film, despite odds and has garnered headlines for the same. Case in point, in a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, Vivek sat down for a rapid-fire segment and it was something. When asked about what question he would like to ask Salman Khan, if he was under the influence of a truth serum, the Lucifer actor quipped, "Do you truly believe in forgiveness?"
If you'd recall, nearly 16 years ago, Vivek Oberoi and Salman Khan had an ugly fall out and don't see eye-to-eye. They landed in each other's bad books when years ago Vivek was in a relationship with Salman's ex Aishwarya Rai. Then one night, Vivek held an impromptu press conference where he alleged that Salman made threatening calls to him. After that conference, both his career and love life have never been the same again. Vivek Oberoi's career took a downward spiral, while Aishwarya Rai went on to marry Abhishek Bachchan. However, the actor is now happily married to Priyanka Alva and has two kids.

Talking about the Narendra Modi biopic, the film will trace the life of the current Prime Minister of India and his struggles to lead the largest democracy in the world. The film begins from the time when Narendra Modi used to serve tea as a young boy. Earlier, in an interview with IANS, when the Sandip Ssingh, the producer of this project, was asked to why he chose to make a biopic on Modi, he had said, "I wanted to make a film on him because his life journey is really inspirational, but from the time I started pitching the idea to people, everyone said it is too risky to do it because he is a sitting prime minister and people have an opinion on him. For the last four years, I looked for support from the industry and finally, people are on board... I did not give up."
Earlier a PIL was filed seeking a stay on the release of the PM Narendra Modi. The opposition parties had claimed that Omung Kumar's directorial was a propaganda film and its initial release (April 5) was planned with the motive of influencing voters in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.
Apart from Vivek Oberoi, the film also stars Boman Irani, Manoj Joshi, Prashant Narayanan, Zarina Wahab, Barkha Sengupta, Anjan Shrivastav, Yatin Karyekar, Ramakant Dayma, Akshat R Saluja, Jimesh Patel and Darshan Kumaar in important roles. The film is co-produced by Vivek's father, Suresh Oberoi and Aanand Pandit. Stay tuned to BL for more updates and scoops!
