Here are the factors that made the film an average watch.
So the Mahesh Babu starrer Brahmotsavam has finally released after almost a month's delay. Understandably the excitement of the fans is sky high and the pre-release business for the Srikanth Addala film is simply brilliant. That being said, the movie is receiving very mixed reviews from critics. We also feel that the Mahesh Babu starrer was a bit of a letdown. Even though brilliant performances and stunning visuals managed to salvage Brahmotsavam, there were these 5 things that really ruined the family drama...
Murder of screenplay
Brahmotsavam is honestly a brutal murder of screenplay, where it is hacked piece by piece. The plot is already confusing enough, but the way it has been executed will make you want to bang your head against a wall. Yes, it is that bad, there are sometimes no thread of continuity between scenes and it is almost like the director cannot decide where to take the story next. The absolute lack of connection between the two halves of the film is a let down.
Lack of basic drama
Though the story looks refreshing on paper, it is rather flat when it pans out on screen. A film that is solely based on family relations there was a lack of conflict in the entire film that made it a lot less exciting for us. Even the part where Mahesh's father passes away thanks to his uncle's harsh words, it doesn't lead to any emotional conflict. Mahesh is always calm and composed throughout the film.
Samantha's hyperactive, annoying role
Samantha played a crucial role in the latter half of the film. She brings Mahesh out of his sad place after his father's death and convinces him to go about on a road trip across the country. But frankly, her character was way too peppy and hyperactive to be really enjoyed. She was in fact, quite annoying in some places and hampered the great dynamic she had with Mahesh Babu.
Too many characters
When it comes down to it, Brahmotsavam's story could have been easily carried out with 10 or less characters. And yet the makers of the film decided to add almost 30 to 40 characters who served no other purpose other than making the tale more complicated to follow.
Unnecessary action scene
It's a family-based movie based on a simple guy with a normal life and suddenly, he is seen beating up goons and bringing in some action element which wasn't even needed.
