Surprised to see the webbed crawler in the trailer? We will tell you why it's not so surprising...
Oh Yes! Spider-Man finally returns to where he really belongs...amidst the Avengers! After Sony pictures spoilt Spider-Man for us fans with two average films in Spider-Man 3 and The Amazing Spider-Man, and an unmitigated disaster in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Marvel entered into a collaboration with them, and fans are happy! So Spider-Man is finally a part of the Avengers. Okay, I know many of you don't really follow Marvel comics, and frankly I also didn't, until I saw the 2012 film The Avengers and was blown away by it! From thereon, even I began to follow the comics. One of the issues I loved the most was the Civil War. The huge magnitude of the story, the number of characters involved and the fight between the rebellious good (Captain America) and douchey good (Iron Man) was all so interesting! It had everyone right from the Avengers, X-Men, the Defenders, the Inhumans, to Fantastic Four. Also Read - Are Tom Holland and Zendaya actually having a baby? Spider-Man actress FINALLY speaks up [View Post]
So when they announced that the latest Captain America film will be called Civil War, I was truly intrigued. How can they make such a film with such limited number heroes, I wondered. Then slowly the roster began to increase. The original Avengers roster, that included Iron Man, Captain America, The Hulk, Thor, Black Widow and Hawkeye, now also included War Machine (Don Cheadle), Falcon (Antony Mackie), Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), and Vision (Paul Bettany). Though Thor and Hulk won;t be appearing in Civil War (I assume though...we can't count out surprise cameos...they will be pairing up together in Thor: Ragnarok), we will get two new Avengers in the film, Chadwick Boseman's Black Panther and of course...our friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man!

So what the heck is he doing here? Let me tell you he plays a very important role in the comics, and therefore, I assume also in the movie as well!
Here're 5 things we need to know about Spider-Man in the MCU!
He played a very integral part in Civil War comics

Though Civil War comics was basically an ego clash between Cap and Iron America, with other heroes taking sides of each (except for X-Men and Black panther, who chose to stay out of the mess...while Thor was in his planet, and Hulk was banished into space), SPider-Man played an integral part in it. In the comics, the bone of contention was about government insisting on revealing of secret identities of superheroes, with Cap against it and Tony Stark for it. As the war escalated, Tony took in Spider-Man and convinces him to unmask himself, and he agrees, giving us the most iconic moment of Marvel comics. However, after this, SPider-Man realises that Cap's cause has more justice than Iron Man's, and also he suffered a lot because of his identity revelation, as his Aunt May gets killed. So he switches sides!
As secret identities are not so secret in the movie version, therefore, everything is about keeping the superheroes in check. Therefore we are not sure if Spiderm-Man is gonna unmask himself, especially since he has just been introduced in the MCU and it won't have the same impact like in the comics. Though we can't count out on him switching sides...
Tom Holland to take over from Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield

Fans of Andrew Garfield might be disappointed that he won't be returning for the new film. He was really good as the webbed crawler in those sucky films, though he was way more cooler than Peter Parker should have been. However, his open dissing of the Spider-Man sequel soured things between him and the studios, and he was booted out. When Spider-Man was brought into MCU, the studios insisted that they wanted a high school Spiderman, and so Tom Holland got the role. You might have seen him in films like The Impossible and In The Heart Of The Sea. Speaking of which...
Spider-Man will already be an established hero in the MCU

...that means, thankfully, no origins story of Peter Parker getting bitten by some radioactive spider umpteen times! During the Civil War proceedings, he will seen as a superhero in the making, who has already discovered his powers and trying to make the best of it! We might him see in his rough suit like the above, before Tony Stark taken him under his wings and gives him a more cooler suit that we see in the trailer!
His Aunt May might also be making an appearance!

Oscar winner Marisa Tomei is all set to play a younger Aunt May to Holland's Spider-Man, and she may make an appearance in the film, if rumours are to be believed! Though don't expect Mary Jane or Gwen Stacy or the Osborns to turn up here...
Expect a solo Spider-Man movie next year...

yes...It's happening! The MCU Spider-Man will have a movie of his own, and Tony Stark (and maybe, even Captain America) might have an appearance in the film. Modern Family's Ariel Winter is touted to play Mary Jane Watson in the film. The film is directed by Jon Watts and is scheduled to release on July 7, 2017.
Now just waiting for X-Men and Fantastic Four to join the team!
