In its own small way, it made big records...
Rustom has been owning the box office like a boss ever since it released. From registering amazing numbers within a few days despite getting good competition from Hrithik Roshan's Mohenjo Daro, the film has only gotten bigger each day. And while doing so, the film has made some really cool records which we bet you didn't know. So here we are to take you on a tour of the same.
#Second highest opening weekend grosser of 2016
Akshay's film scored 14. 11 cr on its first day at the box office and everyone knew where it was headed. The film went on to post some of the best numbers of this year on Saturday (16. 43 cr) and Sunday (19. 88 cr). And on its first Monday, it earned over 17 crore which took the opening weekend toll to 68. 23 cr. That put it right next to Salman Khan's Sultan which had a massive 180. 66 cr on its opening weekend.
#Highest first monday collection of 2016
You would think given Sultan is the highest earning film of 2016, it can easily safeguard its records but you are mistaken. Akshay's film earned 17. 81 cr on its first Monday which is even higher than what Salman's wrestling drama earned which was 15. 54 cr. So never underestimate the power of Akshay Kumar.
#Akshay Kumar's fastest 100 crore film
Rustom got Akshay Kumar his fastest 100 crore film. It achieved the feat in 9 days. Airlift had taken 10 days while Housefull 3 reached the mark in 13 days. So clearly despite facing stiff competition from an equally big film like Moheno Daro which had the star power of Hrithik Roshan, the film managed to race towards the coveted total in minimum time. Content is definitely king here!
#Akshay's highest first week collection for any film
The first week haul of Rustom rested at 90. 90 cr which is the actor's biggest ever. The film's eclectic content helped it sail through with so much ease that not for a minute did it have to worry about losing out to Hrithik's film. It maintained the momentum of its first weekend on the weekdays as well what with Raksha bandhan being a holiday which only worked in its favour.
#Akshay's second highest opener in UAE
UAE is a very important market for Indian films which often release a day before its India release and Akshay got his second highest opener there after Airlift with AED 1 million. That's massive!
#Third highest grosser of 2016
With 108. 02 cr firmly in its pocket, Rustom has become the third highest film in 2016 after Airlift and Salman Khan's Sultan. While the evacuation drama earned over 127 cr in its lifetime, Salman's wrestling drama pocketed more than 300 crore. Rustom is still running at the theatres and we are sure before it wraps up its stay, it will have a humongous total on the board.
#Most successful actor of 2016
With Rustom, Akshay Kumar has become the most successful actor of 2016 as all his three films have gone beyond 100 crore. Airlift made 128. 1 cr, Housefull 3 earned 109. 8 while Rustom is at 108. 02 which brings it to a total of 345. 92 crore while Salman's Sultan is at 300. 35 cr.
