When an Indian Television serial says that all its characters are fictional, they mean it!
I say this because it’s not practically possible to have these characters in real life. If our TV shows including the popular Kumkum Bhagya, Balika Vadhu or Sasural Simar Ka were sent for Guiness World Records, I am sure they would have earned the below titles. So without wasting anymore time, take a look!
Longest Living Human Being : Dadisa, Ballika Vadhu
Time leaps are the most convenient and the most effortless instruments of progression that TV soaps use. Believe me, we would have been fine with it if they would have atleast took the effort of adjusting characters’ ages with it! Dadisa (Surekha Sikri) from Ballika Vadhu and Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’s Baa were alive for 250 years and I’m sure they would have lived more if the shows wouldn’t have shut!
Pregnant for the longest time – Tanu, Kumkum Bhagya
How many months does an average woman stay pregnant for? Eight or Nine, right? Well, not on Indian television! Tanu (Leena Jumani) from Kumkum Bhagya has been pregnant for the last two years! I had read somewhere that elephants have the longest gestation periods – their pregnancy can last for 22 months. But,Tanu has clearly broken their record!
Most jobless ever – Abhi, Kumkum Bhagya
Meet Abhishek Prem Mehra. He is supposed to be a rockstar. So what if he hasn’t given a single concert in two years? He owns a bungalow, a few cars and property that can put any billionaire to shame! Ask where does he get all this from? Sab upar wale ka diya hua hai...
Best Transformation ever - Simar to Makkhi, Sasural Simar Ka
Wait till you hear this! Our TV characters are so versatile that they can give competition to chameleons. They turn into snakes, mongoose, peacocks and houseflies! If you don’t believe me go watch Naagin or Sasural Simar Ka!
Most immortal ever – Mihir, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and Anandi, Ballika Vadhu
They are so great at this disguise game that sometimes they check-mate death too! Remember Mihir form Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi? He rose from death. Several times! Anandi too managed to stay alive after getting shot in the head! What are they, super humans? Even Rajinikanth can't do all this!
Best cry baby – Pragya, Kumkum Bhagya
Sriti Jha aka Pragya loves crying. And don’t get me wrong here. She is actually good at it! She has the ability to cry on every damn occasion! She cries when Abhi leaves her. She cries when she gets him. She cries when he says he doesn’t love her. She cries when he says he can’t live without her. Basically she has cried all her life! I think it’s time for her to ask whether she has married a man or an onion?
Indian TV’s favourite twist – Memory Loss
Aah! This one’s my favourite. And I guess it’s the serial makers’ favourite too. Actually I don’t blame them. Our serials go on for five six years. What do you expect? It’s impossible for a human being to come up with new twists everyday! So when in doubt, get the lead of your serial almost killed. Then declare that he/she survived but has lost memory. Cool, isn’t it? I am so jealous of their innovative mind.
