Ranveer Singh has hit the nets to practice for the 1983 World Cup. No, he’s not travelling back in time to join the iconic 1983 Indian cricket team, but he is replicating the events of the first time India lifted the World Cup in England, in the movie ’83. We already know that the cricketer will be bringing Kapil Dev’s captaincy to the small screen in the movie. And now, the legendary cricketer teaching the actor his famous hook shot, popularly known as the Natraj shot. The actor and the cricketer are seen in the nets with each of them holding a bat. Kapil is seen on the crease facing a ball while Ranveer stands a little behind him and observing him.
Kapil brings back memories of the 1980s as he takes to the nets wearing the Indian jersey. The video feels like a scene out of our childhood. Whereas Ranveer is seen observing him in a yellow tee. The actor is heard screaming, “shot!” as Kapil hits the balls into the nets. Ranveer shared the video with the caption: “Workin’ the #NatrajShot ?with the Man Himself #KapilDev ? @83thefilm #blessed #journeybegins @kabirkhankk”

Earlier today, photos from the Dharamshala ground saw the on-screen and off-screen Kapil Dev strike a pose. Ranveer and Kapil ignited the spirit of patriotism as they stepped out on the pitch of the picturesque stadium wearing the Indian team jersey.
We’ve already reported that the on-screen team are in Himchal Pradesh to prep for the cricket movie. The Kabir Khan directorial will be shot extensively in England, given that the final 1983 World Cup match took place at the Lords. A few days ago, the cast was seen bonding under the sun ahead of the shooting. Ranveer shared a picture of his on-screen squad enjoying a splash on a summer’s afternoon. Missed the picture? As for the cast, Pankaj Tripathi plays coach Man Singh, Chirag Patil plays his father, Sandip Patil, Punjabi superstar Ammy Virk is Balwinder Singh Sandhu. Popular Punjabi singer-actor Hardy Sandhu will portray Madan Lal while Saqib Saleem will be playing Mohinder Amarnath. Mardaani's villain Tahir Raj Bhasin is essaying Sunil Gavaskar and Jatin Sarna will be seen as Yashpal Sharma.
’83 is dubbed as a biopic on Kapil Dev and it traces the journey of underdog Indian team to victory. Cricket lovers would remember that the team beat the mighty West Indies to bring home the cup. Balwinder Sandhu has been coaching Ranveer and found him naturally gifted.
The movie is slated to release in 2020.
