Director Trivikram Srinivas is back with a bang
So the movie of the week is the Samantha Ruth Prabhu starrer A Aa. It is the movie that is getting all the attention of Tollywood because it doesn't have any competition this week. It is a light breezy love story with some emotional family backstory. Let us what it is all about in detail... What's it about A Aa is the story of one young girl, Anusuya Ramalingam, played by Samantha Ruth Prabhu. Anu is a girl who just loves to enjoy her life. But she has to put up with her tyrant mother Mahalakshmi, played by Nadia. Her mother is a business tycoon is frustrated with her daughter and wants to marry her off to Shekhar. While Mahalakshmi is out on a business trip, Anu runs away to her aunt's place to a small village with the help of her father. While travelling by train she comes across Anand Vihari, played by Nithin. Anand is the son of the very aunt Anu is going to meet. Hilarity ensues as Anu enjoys her little village vacation and troubles Anand a lot with all sorts of demands. But in spite of irritation on Anand's part, the two bond together very well. Soon, Anu realises that she has fallen for Anand. But Anand's life is not so simple. Faced with a crippling family debt, he has no other choice but marry Nagavalli, the daughter of a rich village landlord played by Rao Ramesh. But Anand's heart is set on Anu, but his brain tells him to accept this marriage to save his family. Also, it turns out that Anu's mother Mahalakshmi was the reason for the death of Anand's father. As these revelations hit Anu one after the other, she is shocked to the core. The rest of the tale is about how she solves these problems and whether she succeeds or not. What's hot The humour is the biggest plus point in the movie. There are plenty of witty dialogues in the film which make it a laughter riot. Samantha really impresses us all as Anusuya Ramalingam. She is sweet and innocent at some situation and really naughty and cunning in others. She leaves us all spellbound with her charm and her beauty. This is one movie where Sam fans cannot complain that she did not get enough screentime or importance. Nithin is good too as Anand, but his role is somewhat limited. The supporting cast is also excellent in keeping the story breezy and entertaining.Romance is kept to a minimal level with maximum focus on comedy and drama. Many funny scenes stand out in the movie, but the personal favourite is one where Anand drives Anu a full speed back to her home when they find out that her mother is returning from the business to check on Anu and make sure she hasn't left her home. Overall, it is a decently entertaining movie that will keep you engaged. What's not The second of the movie is more cliched and a bit of a drag. The comedy element is reduced and the same old feelings of love and angst crops that makes it a tiresome watch. The climax scenes are quite predictable and do not hold much interest. Somehow, we feel that in light of making things more commercial, the makers dropped the ball with comedy which was the strong point of the entire film. The songs, while good to hear, are placed at the wrong times and pull down the narration a bit. In the end, these are minor flaws that doesn't effect the film so much. What to do A delightful and entertaining one time watch and if you are a fan of Samantha, then you will definitely fall in love with her even more. It is a Samantha show all the way, do catch it once! Our Rating
