Aa Gaya Hero is touted to be Govinda's comeback movie after the failures of his last two releases, Kill Dil and Happy Ending. Both his last releases didn't have him in the lead roles (though he was excellent in both), so Aa Gaya Hero gives him another opportunity to flex his muscles to take the entire movie on his bulky shoulders. The movie is directed by Deepankar Senapati, and is produced and written by Govinda himself. Former Miss World Richa Sharma plays the romantic lead to Govinda, with other important roles being filled by Ashutosh Rana, Murali Sharma, Makarand Deshpande and Harish Kumar. In an interview, Govinda said "When the director Deepankar Senapati narrated the subject to me, I felt I had to do it. It's something I've never done before. I wanted to play this idealistic cop. And I wanted to complete the film in one schedule which we did."
Salman Khan himself had tweeted the trailer on his Twitter timeline, saying 'Aa gaya mera Hero . Mera Partner . Superb Trailer .' However after having seen the promo with my own eyes, I can only make two conclusions about Dear Mr Khan, that either he is a really good friend who just praises any of of his close ones' work blindly or that he has really bad taste in movie trailers. For Aa Gaya Hero's trailer is just something that has been plucked out of the '90s and placed in the wrong year.
Aa Gaya Hero, in reality, is the much delayed Abhinay Chakra which has its title changed to confuse people, however, the trailer can't hide the fact that the movie actually looks dated. In fact, it looks less like a Bollywood movie, and more of a Bhojpuri production. Govinda might have been fulfilling his wish of playing a masala hero with Aa Gaya Hero, but I don't think his wish fulfilment has much takers. He really looks out of place in the scenes where he is supposed to look stylish and throw attitude, but his dance moves still rule!
I don't want to say more about the trailer, apart from the fact that I really didn't want to see that man who entertained the entire nation so much in the '90s in such a tacky production. Watch the trailer and you decide for yourself about how much you liked it...
The movie is scheduled to release on 24 February 2017.
Someone, please make a sequel to Partner. Or Coolie No 1. Or Jodi No 1 or any damn good Govinda movie, where he can get a role he can sink his teeth into.
