The much awaited film of this year Dangal is finally releasing this Friday on December 23. This year has been very unpredictable in terms of films because there have been certain films that were highly overrated and managed to mint more money at the box office than those which had a good story line. Talking to our trade analyst Amul Mohan, we asked him about how he thinks Dangal will fare at the box office. “The film should collect around Rs 30 crore on the first day of its release.”
Salman’s Sultan and Aamir’s Dangal were being compared initially when the first posters of both the movies had come out. Since both are big budget films based on wrestling, comparisons are bound to happen. However, both Aamir and Salman have admitted that Dangal and Sultan are way different than each other. On being asked whether it will be able to break Salman Khan’s Sultan’s record at the box office, our trade analyst said, “I am hoping that it does. It is one of the biggest films this year and it’s the last week of this year so I am really genuinely hoping that it will break Sultan’s record.” (ALSO READ: Aamir Khan to host a special screening of Dangal for Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan)
Whether the film will be able to make it to the 100 crore club, he said, “In the first week I expect it to cross 100 crore. All those who have watched the film at the press screening have liked the film so far. In fact it is one of the best films of this year.”
So from what it looks like, the buzz about Dangal is very high and we are expecting it to rack in that much money too. From posters, trailers to songs; Dangal looks impressive. But will it live up to the hype? Let’s wait until this Friday!
