Film ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ (due for release on October 28), that features Pakistani actor Fawad Khan, run into trouble after Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) said it won’t allow release of any movie in India that featured Pakistani artistes. Since then the film's release has remained the talk of the town.

As informed yesterday, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis held a meeting with MNS chief Raj Thackeray and filmmaker Karan Johar at CM's residence over the release of the film in question. With a demand of Rs 5 cr penance, a share of the film’s profits and a promise of not working with the Pakistani artists in future, Raj Thackeray agreed to raise the ban on Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. Veteran actress Shabana Azmi, who is known to speak her mind, took to twitter and put forward her opinion on the entire matter. Taking a stand against MNS, Shabana Azmi questioned CM Fadnavis' decision of demanding all the producers (of movies employing Pakistanis) to pay Rs 5 crore as penance to the army. She has not only condemned the decision but has also asked BJP to ask for an explanation from Fadanvis as the government had assured a smooth release of the film earlier. Here are her tweets -

Azmi has got a valid point here as just three days ago Mukesh Bhatt (President of Film & Television Producers Guild of India) and Apoorva Mehta (from Dharma Productions, which is behind Ae Dil Hai Mushkil) had got an assurance from Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh that the film will have a smooth release all across India. "After meeting the Home Minster I feel so assured. I feel so relaxed. He (Rajnath Singh) gave me his 100% assurance that he will speak to every single Chief Minister of every state to see that law and order is maintained and full protection is given to every single exhibitor whether it's a multiplex or a single screen exhibitor. They will get 100% police protection and the Government of India will see to it that Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is released without and vilence or without any problems," said Mukesh in a statement.
Echoing the opinion of Indian Army, who also condemns the decision, Azmi has accused Fadnavis of using the army for scoring political brownie points and has asked BJP to look into the matter.
